Family History
This is a transcript of the microfiche copy of John Smith's diary contained in the archives of the Council for World Mission.
The transcription work has been largely done by Merle and Graham Van Cooten.
Some minor formatting changes have been made to make online display simpler. Marginal notes appear immediately after the date, rather than being attached opposite the text in the day's entry to which they apply.
The diary commences with the arrival of John Smith in Demerary on March 6, 1817, and concludes with any entry for Monday August, 18, 1823 - the day of the slave uprising.
