Den Hoog Edel Gebooren Gestrenge Heer GOUVERNEUR GENERAAL is den 15den dezer in 's Lands Bark na de West Zeekust van Essequebo vertrokken, om de Rivier Ponmaron [sic] en de gronden aldaar te bezigtigen, zyn Excellentie is in deze togt verzelt, door den Wel Edele Gestrenge Heer Kapitein ter Zee Frans Smeer en door den Wel-Edele Gestrenge Heer P. van Schuylenburg, Oud-Commandeur dezer Rivier. De Heeren Louis Chollet en I. van den Burght hebben de Eer gehad van zyn Excellentie in hunne qualiteit als gezwooren Landmeeters, te volgen.

De Sessie van den Edele Actbaare [sic] Hove van Justitie dezer Rivier, dewelke op Maandag aanstaande den 19den dezer stond gehouden te worden, is uitgesteld tot den 3de Juny aanstaande.

De Wel Edele Gestrenge Heer & Mr. P. G. Duker, Oud-Fiscaal dezer Rivier, is den 14de April laatstleeden door de Heeren Kiezers op de Nominatie gebragt, tot opvulling van de Vacature in den Hove van Civiele en Crimineele Justitie van Demerary, en is vervolgens op den 22den daar aanvolgende, door den Hove geéligeert, maar zyn Wel-Edele Gestrenge heest, tot het leedweezen van het algemeen, voor de Electie bedankt.

ADVERTENTIE. [centered]

Allen den geenen die iets te pretendeeren hebben van ofte verschuldigt zyn aan den Boedel van nu wylen de Heer E. H. Tekenburg, gewoond en overleeden hebbende binnen deze Colonie, werden verzogt daar van opgaave en betaaling te doen aan de Wel Edele Gestrenge Heer F. Swanke, in qualiteit als eenige over g[illegible]l[illegible]vene Executeur Testamentair in opgemelde naagelaatene Boedel, en zulx [sic] binnen den tyd van vier weeken naar dato deezes, zullende de nalaatige daar van, door middel van regten daar toe werden gec[illegible]st[illegible]geerd, en zulx [sic] ten eynde gemelde Boedel tot liquiditeit te brengen.
Actum ter Secretary van Demerary deezen 9 May 1794.

All those who have any demands against the estate of E. H. Tekenburg deceased in this Colony, are requested to render in the same & those indebted to him to make payment within the time of four weeks from this date, to F. Swanke Esqr. in quality as [illegible] Executor to said estate & notice is hereby given, that those who shall be dilatory in discharging their debts will be prosecuted in law, in order to bring said estate to a fair liquidation.

Having wrote to the greatest part of my Debtors by the established post, and inclosed their accounts, requesting them friendly for payment and finding that such has produced but very little effect.
I request once more by this, all those who are indebted to me, to be so obliging as to make speedy payment, as I hereby inform them, that every one of those who ought long ago to have paid their accounts, will be prosecuted before the Honorable Court of Justice, at the end of the present Month, in order to see them condemned to do [sic], what the [sic] ought to have done long ago.

Pipersberg, en door hem geobtineerde Interdict Poenal, op de Plantagie TUSCHEN DE VRIENDEN, toekomende de Erven van wylen Daniel Pipersberg te Essequebo, bevonden hebbe, dat de Heer E. J. Pipersberg, zig niet ontzien heest teegens het Interdict Poenaal Transactien te doen, voor de Plantagie & Producten afleeverd, zonder voorkennis van F. W. Wiehe nom: Uxor. Zo word een yder gewaarschouwt, geene Transactien te doen met den Heer E. J. Pipersberg, voor de Plantagie Tuschen de Vrienden, zonder voorkennis van F. W. Wiehe nom: uxor. by ondervinding van dien, teegens deeze Publicatie, zal alle gedaane Transactien, zonder voorkennis van voorgenoemde van Nul en geener waar de gehouden worden, en teegens den geene die Producten van de Plantagie ontvangt, in Regten ageeren.

We Sir WILLEM AUGUSTUS SIRTEMA thoe GROVESTINS, Governor general of the Rivers & Adjacencys of Essequebo & Demerary, Colonel of all the Militia, President in all Colledges & Major General of Infantry in service of their HIGH MIGHTINESSES, the STATES GENERAL of the united Netherlands. &c. &c. &c.
And Counsellors of Police of said Rivers &c. &c.
To all those who shall see or hear these presents read Sendeth Greeting makes known.
That having not received as yet from our mother country any regulations concerning the Colony taxes for the year 1793 and being uncertain when we may receive the same, we after having had before us a sketch account of the Colony treasury, have found necessary in order to keep up the different objects & to suport [sic] the charges and costs arising from the same, to regulate and fix provisory the Colony tax for said year 1793, untill such time as we shall receive any orders and regulations from Europe: we have therefore on the proposition of his Excellency the Governor General resolved to follow enterely [sic] the last regulation, issued for the year 1793 at fl. 3 10 a head, for all working Slaves, above 12 years old.
Limitting further, on the principals of the resolution of their noble Mightinesses about the house Slaves, that the calculation issued for the year 1792 shall be made for the year 1793 and consequently that those who have three or less house Slaves shall pay fl. 6 a head; those who have four fl. 10 a head; those who have five fl. 15 a head; those who have six fl. 20 a head; those who have seven fl. 25 a head; those who have eight fl. 30 a head; and those who have nine & more fl. 40 a head; of which capitation tax shall be free the Planters who lives on their Plantations His Excellency the Governor General for a number of twenty Slaves, the Counsellors, Secretarys, Receivers and Vendue Masters, & the chief Officers, for a Number of six Slaves; the lower & subaltern Officers who are obliged to live in Stabroek for a number of four Slaves.
That the Tradesmen shall pay a capitation tax of seven guilders a head, for each Slave male or female they employ at their trade.
That all free Coloured People either Negros or Mulattos shall in case any Expedition should take place against the Bush Negros, be obliged to assist the Military; and in that case, they will be provided with victuals, arms, & amunition [sic]. And whereas by that obligation they will be bound to the Publick Service, the men shall be free of Capitation tax, but in order that they should answer better the above purpose, they shall be kept in a strict Dependence and be banished from the Colony, in case they should Refuse or deny the above mentioned service. - The free Coloured Women either Negros or Mulattos, shall ne-

vertheless pay a Capitation tax of 10 Gulders a head. We have further decreed that the payment of the aforesaid Capitation Taxes, should be made within the Months of May and June next, and Consequently before the first of July next, under the penalty of Immediate Execution.
And whereas we have also taken into consideration the Several payments which are to be made from the treasury of the colony, and the more repeated wants and Expenses occasioned by its encrease and augmentation and by the present situation of time, more then when the last colony capitation has been fixed, and being just and reasonable that all inhabitants should contribute proportionably to said Expences, and assist in promoting the common welfare of this colony, whereof its safety, and Credit, the good order and continual cours [sic] of Business are depending, we have thus thought proper to issue a lawfull contribution, to the above purposes, as it has always been usual in this Colony.
And having thus taken into consideration on the one side the order of things, the conditions of the present time, and the circumstances in which we find ourselves on account of the war, and on the other side having the Special satisfaction to see, that by the Blessing of our Lord, said war has untill now occasioned no real disaster to this Colony, but to the contrary, that in Spite of the Storms and Calamitys which have overtaken our dear mother country and possibly some other of her possessions, we have untill now had the good fortune to experience, that our colony has enjoyed a perfect wellfare [sic] and prosperity, by the industrious cultivation of its inhabitants, equally beneficial to them and to the mother country, by the high prices of their produce and by an unmolested navigation from and to our Colony.

Ed. Gestr. Heer J. C. Lanfferman, publicq zal worden opgeveild en aan de meesbiedende [sic] verkocht:
De HALVE CONCESSIE No. 1. aan de Middeldam, mit de daar op staande Gebouwen, als meede eenige Meubilairé Goederen, bestaande in Mahognyhoute Tafels, Stoelen, Ledikanten, Sophaas [sic], Matrasien, Glaswerk, Spiegels, &c. Voorts vier Paarden en eenige zeer bekwaame Huisslaaven.
En 't geene verder zal worden gepresenteerd.
Die er gading in heest kome ten voornoemde dage en plaatse aanhooren de Conditien & doe zyn profyt.

Alzoo de Heer Edward Latham voorneemens is deze Colonie te verlaaten en binnen den tyd van zes weeken na Noord-America te vertrekken, verzoekt een iegelyk welke iets van hem te pretendeeren heest zulks aan het Secretary alhier te willen opgeeven en daar voor by zyn Edele in deze Hoofdplaatse de Betaaling te koomen Ontsangen.
