Op den derde dezer is op de voorgronden van de Plantagie Iveleary overleeden ?. Demaré, Horlogemaaker.

Op den zesden is binnen deze Hoofdplaats overleeden de Heer P. van Velse, [gutter] leven Schryver ter Secretary alhier.

Op den vyfden zyn op de Plantagie Werk en Lust, ten Huize van de Heer Cornelis Mulder, door de Edele Achtbaare Heeren Raaden Commissarissen Getrouwt, de Heer J. H. H. Tousan met Mejuffrouw [gutter]? Cornelia Looft, en hebben ten
[gutter]elve dage en plaatse Ondertrouw gedaan de Heer Bern. Brilleman met Mejuffrouw
[gutter]anna Wilhelmina Boedberg.

Op den sevende is binnen deze Rivier geretourneert van deszelfs Kruistogt, de Wel-Edele Gestrenge Heer F. Smeer, Capitein ter Zee, commandeerende 's Lands Brigantyn van Oorlog de Kemphaan, na
[gutter] daagen op onze Kust gekruist te hebben.

Den bovengemelde Wel-Ed. Gestr. Heer rapporteerd, dat hy op deszelf
[gutter]stogt geene vyandelyke Scheepen of Vaartuigen gezien of ontdekt heest, hoe
[gutter]r ook zyn Wel-Edele Gestrenge veele Scheepen of Vaartuigen, van diverse Naties heest gesprooken, geen eene van die
[gutter]n eenig Fransch Schip of Vaartuig heest gezien; en dus dat de Ingezeetenen van Berbice, Demerary en Essequebo gerust kunnen zyn, alzoo dezelve nog geen de minste gevaar hebben om door de Franschen bezogt te worden.

Den 6 dezer arriveerde (voornoemde Wel. Ed. Gestr. Heer in Rio Berbice toen daar zynde,) 't Koopvaardyschip De Snelheid, Schipper Jan Janse Rouaan, aan boord hebbende drie Krygsgevangenen, zynde een Engelschman en twee Franschen, die met een kleine Chaloep of Boot den 29ste July af en aan, of wat beneeden Cajenne van een Engelsche Brik voorheen door een Fransche Schoener genoomen, by hem aan Boord waaren gekoomen, om te verneemen waar zy waren. Zyn Wel-Ed. Gestr. heest op verzoek van den eerste Stuurman van de Snelheid (den Schipper Rouaan buiten vermoogen zynde) de voornoemde 3 Krygsgevangene overgenoomen. - Den Engelsche Matroos heest direct op de Kemphaan dienst genomen, dan de twee Fransche Matroosen verkiesen om op de Kemphaan Krygsgevangene te zyn en blyven, zoo als ze nog zyn.

Cap: F. Smeer Commander of the States Brig of war De Kemphaan, is returned here on the 7th instant from his cruize on our coast, which lasted sixteen days, and reported that during all that time he had spoke with many vessels of different nations, and had not heared [sic] nor see any thing of any french [sic] ships or vessels of that nation whatever.

Den ondergeteekende Commissaris der Venduën adverteerd aan elk en een ygelyk, dat op Dingsdag den 12 Augustus aanstaande ten zyne Huise, van wegens N. Rouselet & T. Duim, als aangestelde Curators in den Boedel wylen Zacharias Boyer, publicq aan de meestbiedende zal werden Verkogt: Eenige Klederen en oud Huisraad, meede een halve Concessie Land No. 38, met de daar op staande Gebouwen, geleegen aan de Noordzyde van de Dam in Stabroek & naast de Bootmaker J. Parss, onder beding van een Weg van 10 voeten breed, leidende na de Middel-straat; meede een zeer sterk, en zo goed als nieuw Draagkoets, van binne met paarde haren matrassen gevoerd en opschuivende glaasen, als andere Vaartuigen, Dreggen in soorten van 6 - 200 pond per stuk, trossen Touwen tot boot en Scheeps gebruik; beste Provisien door de laatst gearriveerde Schepen aangebragt, en verders wat meer ton voorschyn zal werden gebragt.
Die hier in gading heest koome ten voornoemde dage en plaatse aanhoore de Conditiën en doe zyn profyt.

VENDUE. [centered]

The underwritten Commissary of the Vendues makes hereby known to all and every one that on Tuesday the 12th instant there will be put up for sale at his house, for account of N. Rousselet and T. Duym, trustees to the Estate of Zaccarias Boyer deceased, and sold to the highest bidder, a parcel of wearing apparel and old house furniture, and the half concession No. 38 with all the buildings thereon, situated in Stabroek northward of the middledam, joining the buildings of the boat-Builder J. Parss, with the condition of a path on one side, 10 feet wide, leading to the middledam, together with a strong and most new sedan, furnished inside with hair cushions and glass windows: and a few crafts: further a parcel of Grapnels from 6 to 200 pounds, cordage fitt for boats and large vessels; best new provisions imported by the last ships and what-ever more will be exposed there for sale. The Conditions of the sale will be read at the aforesaid place on the prefixed day.

The roads and bridges over the uncultivated Compagny's [sic] Paths shall be made as usual by the planters living on each side and must be constantly kept in good order, under the penalty limited by the foregoing articles.

ART. VII. [centered]

And in order that these our earnest resolutions should be followed and complyed with as it ought to be, and that every one should always enjoy the use and benefits thereof, we considering that the extent of both rivers renders it impossible for the honorable Fiscals to keep continually a watchful eye on the same, have resolved to request, and if need be order, the burgher officers by their instructions, to keep also a watchfull Eye over the same and not only on the roads and bridges belonging to private persons, but also on those which are made and maintained at the expense of the Colony; and in case it should at any time appear that said roads and bridges were not kept in the order required, such an officer shall instantly inform thereof the right honorable the Director General of Demerary or the honorable the Commandeur of Essequebo.

And in order that no one should pretend ignorance hereof; this presents shall be published, affixed and sent round for public reading.

Thus done in our assembly at the Court house in the Town of Stabroek in Demerary, this 27th of July 1789 and published the 17th of august [sic] following.

That having moreover taken into consideration, that by the first article of the above Regulation or ordinance, the distance of the road along the East side of Demerary is limited to the Plantation Soesdyk, we in consideration of the quantity of uncultivated lands in that district, and of the difficulty and great expences for to keep roads there, in order, have on the representations of some of the owners of lands in that district, thought proper to alter so far the Limitation of this Road, that the public Road for carriages shall not go further hen [sic] to the brikkery [sic] belonging to Mersss. [sic] Ths. Cuming & Co. and from there to Plantation Soesdyk a convenient foot path, in order to facilitate a communication with the plantations situated there above.

That it has more over been taken in consideration by us, that by art. IV of said Regulation, the public Road on the West of the River Essequebo, was limited to the Plantation of N. Kip and that a year and six weeks have been granted to the owners of lands in that district for to make their roads, and that the orders contained in said Regulations are not as yet complyed with, apparently because next to the land of [illegible] Windhuys there is a piece of uncultivated land, Whereof the Company or their noble Mightinesses the Counsel of America, have not as yet disposed, to which end we have requested the honorable Fiscal ad Interim A. van der Miedes and two burgher officers of that division, and have authorised them to have the road made there, by public bargaining.

Whereof we grant hereby to the owners of the Plantations situated from the afore mentioned piece of land, to the plantation of N. Kip, six month more, to be reckoned from the date hereof in order to make their roads and bridges, under penalty of being fined as it is mentioned in art. IV.

Den ondergeteekende maakt bekend, dat op den 11 passato een Neger man, genaamd Cesar, lang van Postuur, war oud, met een quasje aan zyn been, met een Corjaar van hem is weg geloopen, welke Neger in vroeger tyd eens aan den Heer Martyn Bollers in Demerary heest toebehoord; verzoekt zeer vriendlyk zoo die Neger door den een of andere Heeren mogte gezien werden te laaten vaaten, en den ondertekenaar laaten weeten, geleegendheid daar toe zynde, hem weder terug te zenden, zal gaarne de kosten daar op staande voldoen.
Als meede is de Plantagie van den ondergeteekende, geleegen op het Leugan Eyland, tusschen de Plantagie Doornhaage en den Heer R. Nugent, op goede Conditie te Koop.
