Saturday, January 10th, 1807.
By His Excellency H. W. Bentinck, Esqr. Lieutenant-Governor in and
over the Colonies of Essequebo and Demerary, and ther [sic] Dependencies, President
in all Courts and Colleges within the same, &c. &c. &c.
Whereas the place of one of the Keizers or Electors of this River
has become Vacant by the Resignation of David Luthers, Esqr. and whereas it is
necessary also that a New Election should be made by the Inhabitants of this
River, of two of the Representatives for Fixing Colonial taxes in the room of
James Ogle and John Sutherland, Esqrs. in consequence of the time for which
they were nominated as such, having expired.
I therefore have thought fit to issue this my Proclamation thereby
calling on all the Inhabitants, who being possessed of five and twenty Slaves
or upwards are qualified by the Constitutional Laws of the Colony to vote for
the Election of Keizers and of financial Representatives, now to give or send
in their Votes respectively for a New Keizer in the room of the said D. Luthers
Esqr. and for two financial Representatives in the room of James Ogle and John
Sutherland Esqrs. aforesaid.
A Sealed Box will be placed in the Government Secretary's Office
in Stabroek, wherein all Persons qualified as above may deposit their Votes
during the space of Thirty Days from this date, and which on the expiration of
that time, and consequently on the 30th of January next, will be opened by the
Secretary of the Colony in my presence, and that of two of the Members of the
Court, when the names of the Persons returned by the majority of the Votes to
be Kiezers and financial Representatives respectively will be published
accordingly.

At a Meeting of the Creditors of Joseph Beete Esqr. held at Mr.
Campbell's Tavern on Friday the 9th January 1807, - Proposals were laid before
them for liquidating the Debts and taking off the Sequestration from the
Estates Best and Phoenix, which Proposals were assented to and signed by the
Gentlemen present; but as several did not attend they were left for approbation
at the store of Messrs. Underwood, Johnson & Co. Stabroek.

All Persons to whom the Estate of the late Thomas Maddox, Surgeon,
stand indebted are requested to render in their accounts to John Westley Thomas
in Pomeroon; and all those who are indebted to the said Estate are desired to
make payment.

All Those standing indebted to the deceased W. Allanby M.D. are
requested to make payment of their accounts to the Subscriber M. Downie, who
will grant receipts for the same; and all Persons having any claims against the
said deceased are desired to lodge the same for examination with the said M.
Downie, that the most speedy and effectual measures may be adopted for
liquidating them.

For Sale. [heading]
The lower fifty Roods of Plantation Strick & Heuvel formerly
the property of the Honble. F. C. Loncke, and latterly the property of the
deceased W. Allanby M.D. lying on the West Bank of Demerary river; a Pottery
has been established on the property by the late Dr. Allanby, with an excellent
Kiln for burning the Ware and every conveniency for carrying on the Pottery
business, there are two experienced Potter Negroes who will be sold with the
Estate as well as twelve Field Negroes, if required. For further particulars
application may be made to either of the Subscribers.

Sale of the Effects of [heading]
the Late Dr. Allanby. [heading]
On Wednesday the 31st curt. there will be exposed to Sale by
Public Vendue, by authority of the Subscribers, Executors to the will of the
late Wm. Allanby M.D. at the house lately occupied by him in the New Town; -
his whole household furniture consisting of a brass mounted and jointed
portable bedstead with mattresses &c. side board, tables, chairs &c. a
very fine mahogany writing table, a quantity of silver, plate and plated
articles, some very fine new bed and table linen, wearing apparel, a double
barrell'd gun, hair trigger pistols, guns, cutlasses, a pair brass swivels; as
also the library, medicines and instruments; a small boat with oars, mast and
sail, a saddle horse, with many other articles.

By Authority obtained, - I the Underwritten, in capacity as
Marshal of this Colony, make known, that (after precedental process of Law)
shall expose and sell at Marshal sales, in the presence of the Honorable
Commissaries of the Court of Justice and their Secretary at the Court House in
Stabroek on Thursday the 2d of February 1807, to the highest Bidder as follows:
1st. In behalf of C. M. Overweg, triumphant by decree against the
Executed Leeven de Weever, en James de Weever and Leeven de Weever, a Concession
or Lot of Land known by No. 347, situated in Cumingsburg with the Dwelling
House thereon, about 30 feet by 16, one and a half storie high, also a few side
buildings of little value.
2dly. In behalf of F. Martin against the Executor or Executors to
the Estate of Ls. Favarger deceased, the half concession or Lot of Land known
by No. [blank] situated on the front Lands of Plantation Werk & Rust, with
the Buildings thereon, being a Dwelling house 30 feet by 18 of Colony wood, a
side building, serving for Kitchen, Store and Wash house, a necessary house and
an Oven.
3dly. In behalf of Alex. Reith for the firm of Wishart &
Reith, and Alex. Reith, Prive, J. T. Mathews & A. Fleischman all
Triumphants against Young Turner, a Concession or Lot of Land, known by No.
134, with the Dwelling house thereon of Colony wood 25 feet by 15, one and a
half story high and a side building not finished.
4thly. In behalf of Jacob Culver & A. Reith against R.
Forshaw, a certain piece of Land situated in Cumingsburg with the buildings
thereon and fence, being a dwelling house about 33 feet by 20, on brick pillars
of seven feet high, one and a half story, also Logie of two stories, about 80
feet long by 25 wide and another side building of little value.
Whoever should conceive to have any Right
to oppose against any of the aforesaid Sales will address themselves in writing
at the Marshal's Office, where I shall Receive them as opposer or opposers, and
appoint a Day to go to Law; and further any person or persons inclined to
purchase are requested to attend on the day of sale aforesaid.

proceeds of the sales of said Estate, to appear before the Honble. Court of
Justice at their Sessions at the Court House in Stabroek, on the 19th January
next and following days, in order to render as yet in proper form, their
demands or pretentions on the above mentioned neat proceeds, whereas after this
fourth, last and Exsuperabundantie Summons by Edict shall be proceeded against
the non appearers to obtain perpetual silence as the Law directs. Demerary,

by the underwritten Marshal, in the name and behalf of F. C. Elbers and John
Wilson, Sequestrators to Plantation Chance Hall, formerly the property of Mr.
D. P. Simon, for the fourth time by Edict Superabundantie Summoned all known
and unknown creditors who may have any claims or title in the Neat Proceeds of
the executional sale of the said Estate, to appear before the Honble. Court of
Justice at their Sessions at the Court House in Stabroek, on the 19th day of
January next and following days, - in order to render as yet in proper form,
their demands, claims or pretensions on the above mentioned Neat Proceeds,
whereas after this fourth, last and Exsuperabundantie Summons by Edict shall be
proceeded against the non appearers as the law Directs to obtain perpetual

The Subscriber intending to leave the Colony next month, desires
those indebted to him to come forward and settle their accounts as soon as
possible; those to whom he is indebted are requested to render in their
demands. He also has for sale for immediate payment: - Butter, soap, candles,
half barrels mess beef, tubs salmon, tobacco, dimijohns [sic] gin and brandy,
nankeens, Russia sheeting, jeans, threads, britannias, platillas, checks,
course [sic] linens, &c. &c.

Notice is hereby given, that Edward Latham has invested the
Subscribers with full Power to transact and settle all his Business, of
whatever nature or find soever, and that transactions of his,
done without their knowledge, will not be considered by them as legal. They
therefore request all those to whom he stands indebted to furnish their
Accounts properly authenticated; that settlements may be made as soon as
possible, and those who are indebted to him to come forward immediately and Pay
their respective Accounts.

PUBLIC VENDUES. [heading]
On Wednesday the 14th Instant at the store of Phillip Yates, in
front of Plantation Vlissengen, [illegible] provisions, dry goods &c.
&c. being consignment imported in the ship Mary viz: Irish beef, butter,
glass ware of all kinds, fustians, Ladies' and Gentlemen's stockings, dimities,
marseilles waistcoat patterns, jeans, printed cambricks, long lawn, hams,
Gloucester cheese, refined sugar, [illegible]te paint, paint oil, &c.
&c.
On Thursday the 15th instant, at the store of Amos Leeds Esq. an
assortment of Provisions, Nails, [illegible]es of Brandy &c. &c.
On Tuesday, the 20th instant, at the House of Mr. R. S. Turton, by
order of A. B. Morris Esq. for the benefit of the Underwriters and those
concerned a parcel of damaged Dry Goods, imported in the Wilding, Capt. Marman.
On Wednesday the 21st instant, at the House lately occupied by W.
Allanby M. D. deceased, all his Household Furniture &c. - See Advertisement
in first Page.
On Friday the 30th instant, at the Vendue Office, by the order of
his Honor the Fiscaal the following arrested slaves, now in the Colony stocks,
viz: A Negro woman, Yaba, belonging to Mr. Reith of Berbice, confined by Mr.
Harris, on the 18th July 1806. A negro, Quaco, belonging to Doctor Munro,
arrested on Plantation Letter T in Abary, on 28th Aug. 1806. A negro, Quimina,
belonging to Dr. Seaton, confined by the Dienders on 20th May 1806. A new
negro (name and owner unknown) marked B II, confined by Mr. s'Gravesande, on
24th April 1806. A negro Watermool, belonging to the Boedel of Bynoe, confined
by Mr. Postlethwaite's negroes the 25th July 1806.

The Mail is not yet arrived, nor has there been any arrival from
Europe or the Islands in the course of this Week, by which we are deprived of
the satisfaction of laying before our readers any thing relative to the late
operation on the Continent.
A dreadful Fire took place a few days since, at the Estate of W.
Postlethwaite Esq. called Hibernia, in Essequebo, which burnt with such
rapidity that the whole of the most valuable set of Works in the Colony, were
utterly destroyed, the Mill only excepted. - A considerable quantity of Produce
was lost at the same time by this dreadful calamity.

From the Ship Alexander, Captain Price, lying in Demerary River on
Wednesday evening the 7th inst. the two following boys with the ship's boat,
viz: - John Salisbury, born in London, aged 17, light complexion, pale face,
marked with the small pox, tall and thin, had on a new duck frock, blue striped
cotton trowsers, shoes, and straw hat.
Thomas Kennedy aged 16, from Liverpool, dark complexion, round
face, short and stout, had on a red flannell [sic] shirt, blue cloth trowsers,
and round hat.
Any Person who will apprehend or give any information of the said
boys to Captain Price, will be handsomely rewarded, and any person or persons
who may after this notice harbour or employ the said two boys or either of them
will be proceeded against according to the utmost rigour of the Laws of this
Colony.
