[Transcriber's
note: advertisement changes in 18070919EDRG]
By
the arrival of a Danish Schooner we have received the Barbados Mercury of the
22d ult. than which, we have not received one containing more important events
for a long time past, and from which, and the London Papers, we have extracted the
most material articles. . . .
His Majesty's Schooner Skip-Jack sailed
for Barbados on Wednesday last, to have some necessary repairs done; she took
with her the Papers of two American Vessels, which, we understand, Lieutenant
Malbourn, her Commander, had seized in the course of the last week, the one for
landing Contraband Goods, and the other for having Sugars on Board.
It
is now ascertained, by accounts from Berbice that the Betsey Lugger was taken
off that place by a French Privateer and carried into Cayenne; and it is much
feared that the Mail-Boat, with the first July Mail, has shared the same fate.
The second Mail for July may be hourly expected.
