FOR SALE.
[heading] On Tuesday last the Mail Boat, Capt. Carter, arrived here with the second Mail for May. Capt. Carter saw a French Privateer La Galleste, of 5 guns and 75 men, captured, on his passage her, by the Belette sloop of war, Capt. Saunders; the Prize and another were seen to Windward of Barbados by the Emma Army ship from hence, which, on her arrival in Barbados on the 30th ult. - reported to Admiral Cochrane, who instantly sent the Belette in quest of them, who fortunately came up and captured one of them at 10 o'clock at night, after a chase of 12 hours, which proves to be the same that has been cruizing between this and Surinam for some time past, and was returning to Guadeloupe for want of Provisions. She had not captured any thing. The Belette arrived in Barbados on Sunday the 26th ult. with 5 Transport under her Convoy (with 800 Troops) and several other Vessels. In her passage out she spoke an American Vessel that left Cadiz on the 16th of May, which reported that there were insurrections throughout the whole of Spain. The report which reached here last Monday respecting the insurrection in Spain proves to be correct, at least, as far as corroberating [sic] circumstances can go. We have received a regular set of Barbados Papers, which state the intelligence first reached the West Indies in a vessel which arrived at Trinidad on the 17th ult. in 30 days from Gibraltar, as will be seen by the following important particulars published in Barbados on the 23d ult:- [Transcriber's note: European news not transcribed] It is highly probably that the Bill in Parliament for the prohibition of Distilling from Grain will not pass, as on the first reading it was carried by a majority of only 14. We are authorised to state that His Majesty has been graciously pleased to order Seven or Eight Ships and Vessels of War to be Stationed from the Mouth of the River Surinam to the Mouth of the Rio Oronoko, for the Protection of the Trade of these Colonies. It will be seen by our Ship list that Thirteen Vessels have cleared outwards this Week for Europe, several of them are already gone out and the rest are at this moment getting under way. - 4 o'Clock P.M. They go under the Convoy of the Laura Schooner, Lieut. Yetts, and will most probably sail this Evening. Vessels Entered and Cleared since our last. [heading] ENTERED - None. [heading]
