Whereas the following persons have petitioned the Honorable Court of Policy of Demerary and Essequebo, for letters of Manumission for the after-named slaves, viz.
P. C. Mickerts, Executor to the last will and testament of Frances Parris, deceased, for the negro boy John, and negro woman Betsy.
H. C. Evertz, Executor of the late Widow Pletz, deceased, for the coloured woman Marie Florentine Walle, and her five mulatto children, Elizabeth, Jennette, Maria, Christina, and John Joseph.
Hendrica Jagersma, a mustee girl, assisted by J. V. Nederman, formerly the property of A. C. Boode, for herself.
Joseph Hadfield, for the cabougre woman Terry, and her three mulatto children, Kitty Ann, Richard, and Thomas.
The mulatto woman Mary Jane Squirk, for self and three children, Ann Elizabeth, Mary, and boy William, assisted by the free black woman Betty Grace.
All those who may have any right or title to said slaves, are hereby notified to give in their claims, between this date and the next ensuing ordinary meeting of the Court of Policy aforesaid, on the 30th of January next.

John Smitt, with three servants, in 14 days or 6 weeks from Dec. 30.
John Kelly, in 14 days or by the ship Latona, from Dec. 31.

Thomas Severy, in 14 days or 6 weeks from January 2.
Kellman Yearwood, in 14 days from January 2.

Lewis Cameron will transport from Plantation Huntly, twenty-four negroes, the names to be seen at the Secretary's Office of this Colony, to Berbice, in 14 days from Dec. 28.
Wm. Munro will transport one hundred negroes from plantation Novar, in Abary, to the colony of Berbice, (names to be seen at this office,) being part of the gang on the said estate, in 14 days from Jan. 1.
Mrs. Busby, and her son Samuel, in 14 days or six weeks, from January 1.
Sarah Forbes, her child, and one servant, in 14 days or six weeks, from January 4.
Samuel Percy, in 14 days or six weeks, from Jan. 4.
Alexander Ballantine, in 14 days or six weeks, from January 6.
Michael Sutton, in 14 days or six weeks, from Jan. 6.
Mary Cuvilje, free coloured woman, and her two children, in 14 days or six weeks, from January 7.

Local Laws. [heading]

By Act dated 5th March 1799, every Captain clearing out from this port, must pay 10 stivers for each and every man or boy he may have on board his vessel (himself alone excepted) to the Receiver of the Poor Chest, in aid of the Colony Hospital,

By Act dated 15th May 1802, all ships or vessels are prohibited from lying in front of the town of Stabroek in the space betwixt the two canals on oach side thereof, under a penalty of 150 guilders fine, to be incurred by the master of such vessel, for every two days the said vessels shall continue to lie there, after having received orders from the Harbour-master to remove.

By Act dated 9th July 1803, no boats or craft are permitted to lay in the canals of this town longer than 24 hours, unless permission be granted by the Fiscal; and no boat or craft may be hauled on any of the dams or parapets, for the purpose of repair or otherwise, on pain of 30 guilders fine; and if suffered to remain 24 hours after the first fine, the same to be doubled.
