Demerary and Essequebo. [heading]
An Act for more fully ascertaining the
Slave Population of this United Colony, and for other Purposes.

Arrivals since our last: - the army brig
Duke of York, from Barbados; the Dutch ship Goede Freda, from Amsterdam; and
the schooners Aletta and Jackman, from Barbados.
Departures: - the brigs Mariner, for
Boston, and Ocean, for Liverpool; the schooners Polly, for Barbados, and the
Anna-Isabella, for St. Vincent; the army brig Duke of York, and the Robert,
mail-boat, for Barbados.
Public Vendues. [heading]
On Thursday, the 10th of April, by order
of A. M. Fogelmark, on the premises -
His House and Lot in Werk en Rust, sub
No. 11, with a Water Lot. Also, old hock and Seltzer water, Bourdeax [sic]
claret, Holland gin in cases, white vinegar, stock and lyng fish, split pease,
Dutch pipes, tobacco and snuff, post and writing paper, quills, indigo, mill grease,
brooms and brushes, red earthen ware, large damask table cloths, Osnaburgs, and
grapnels.
Also, by order of C. H. De Munnick -
household furniture, consisting of a mahogany sideboard, ditto dining tables,
card, Pembroke, and other tables, knife cases, butlers' trays, mahogany
bedsteads, with feather bed, mattresses, &c. complete; chest of drawers, a
complete set of blue porcelain table ware, plate and glass ware, an elegant
eight-day clock, gold watches, a set of tea china, a very handsome silver tea pot,
coffee ditto, sugar bason, cream jug, tea caddy, a plated tea tray with silver
edges, and what further may appear on the day of sale.
Also, by order of the same, the baggage
of Mr. Chichester, which was advertised in the newspapers the 10th October 1812,
but then not sold, in expectation that it would be reclaimed by the owner.
March 25. Kingston & Mills.
On Monday and Tuesday the 14th and 15th
of April, at Plantation Lusignan, East Coast, Demerary, by order of John
Wilson, Esq.
Fifty to sixty head of cattle, in fine
order, several of which, are fit for the butcher; a variety of household
furniture, consisting of mahogany dining tables, side board, a handsome octagon
loo table, Pembroke and mahogany card tables, sofas and settees, wardrobes,
chests of drawers, drawing and dining room chairs, large four post bedsteads, a
patent chair and sofa bed, toilet tables and glasses, a handsome mahogany wash
hand stand with drawers, &c. complete, a large library book-case of
mahogany and glass doors, with a variety of valuable books in English and other
languages, amongst which there are several law and classical books belonging to
the estate of Joseph Hamer, deceased, and to K. F. Mackenzie, Esq. Also
various articles of silver, consisting of spoons, forks, salt cellars and a tea
set, plated ware, tea urn and coffee pot, candlesticks with branches, a variety
of glass ware, shades, dining room and passage lamps, china and earthen ware,
real damask and other table linen, a few pictures in gilt frames, &c. Also
two pipes of old London particular Madeira wine, imported for his own use, with
several dozens of ditto in bottles. A gig, horses, &c. The whole payable
at three months' credit, and the vendue to commence each day not later than
twelve o'clock; the sale of the cattle, horses and part of the furniture will
take place the first day.
March 25. Kingston & Mills.
On Tuesday, the 22d of April, by order
of N. Hugenholtz and Robert Munro, q.q. at the Store of the latter, in
America-street: -
Household furniture, consisting of
dining and breakfast tables, a lady's work table, a sideboard, chairs, sofas, a
piano forte, bedsteads and mattresses, chests of drawers and secretaires, wash
hand stands, pictures, a French clock, looking glasses, silver and plated wares,
table and breakfast setts of Staffordshire and China wares, &c. Two gigs,
one of them with a top and almost new; seven horses amongst which are good
saddle and draft horses and one Arabian stallion. Also, those extensive
premises and concessions No. 28 and part of 29 on the brick-dam Stabroek, the
whole in complete order, and at present occcupied by Mrs. Meertens. The
premises on lot No. 32, front of plantation Vlissengen with the unexpired lease
of said lot, at present occupied by Mr. Van Braam. - Terms for furniture,
&c. 3 and 6 months; for the buildings 6, 12, 18, and 24 months; the sale to
commence at 11 o'clock precisely.
