WHEREAS
the following persons have petitioned the Honourable Court of Policy of
Demerary and Essequebo, for Letters of Manumission for the after-named Slaves:
-
Thomas
Frankland, for the mulatto woman Kitty Gillan, otherwise Kitty Cooke, for
herself and child, Maria Rosina, formerly the property of Edward Cooke, and
sold after his demise, to J. A. Otto.
J.
Pantlitz, executor of W. A. Leeseman, for the black woman Flora, and her two
children Wilhelmina-Antoinette and Carel-Frederick.
Idem,
for the mulatto girl Eliza.
H.
Meertens, a mulatto man, assisted by J. V. Nederman, for himself, formerly
belonging to Plantation Zeelandia, Wackenam.
The
negro woman Nancy Milborn, for herself, formerly the property of J. G. H.
Milborn, assisted by J. J. L. Molliere.
David
Young, a mulatto man, assisted by Mr. Chas. Grant, for himself.
All
those who may consider themselves entitled to oppose the delivery of such
Regular Letters of Manumission, are hereby notified to state such opposition,
at the Colonial-Secretary's Office, between this date and the next ensuing
Ordinary Session of the Court of Policy aforesaid, on the 28th instant.

DEMERARY

the mulatto man David Young, born on Plantation Belmont, in the island
Carracoa, but at present an inhabitant of this Colony, (being properly
assisted), has presented a Petition to the Assembly of the Honourable the Court
of Policy of the United Colony, holden at the Court-House, George-Town,
Demerary, on the first day of May last, praying to be manumitted, and set free
from slavery: -
All
persons, who have or hold any right or title to or upon the said mulatto man
David Young, or to oppose his said intended manumission, are hereby required to
notify the same to me, on or before the 28th day of August next ensuing, as the
Court will then proceed to give such final order on said petition, as it shall
see meet.
Thus
done in Court of Policy, Court-House, George-Town, Demerary, 1st of May, 1817.

been referred to the Subscriber, as Sworn-Accountant of said Court, to examine
and report thereon - Notice is therefore hereby given, to all persons
interested therein, that attendance will be given at this Office, every day (Sundays
and Holidays excepted), from the hours of nine in the morning till two in the
afternoon, for the time of one calendar month from the date hereof, in order to
enable such persons to inspect the said Accounts, and state their objections or
observations in writing: - at the expiration of which time, Reports will be
made up, and office-copies, at the expence of the parties concerned, be ready
for delivery, three days previous to the next Ordinary Session - when the whole
of these Accounts and Reports, will be laid before the Honorable Court of
Justice, for final decision thereon.
