{"id":863,"date":"2014-02-01T13:18:01","date_gmt":"2014-02-01T03:18:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/vc.id.au\/licktheplateclean\/?p=863"},"modified":"2014-02-01T13:18:01","modified_gmt":"2014-02-01T03:18:01","slug":"random-lunch-challenge-turkish-bread-and-sujuk-pizza","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vc.id.au\/licktheplateclean\/?p=863","title":{"rendered":"Random Lunch Challenge- Turkish bread and sujuk &#8220;pizza&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"fcbkbttn_buttons_block\" id=\"fcbkbttn_left\"><div class=\"fcbkbttn_like \"><fb:like href=\"https:\/\/vc.id.au\/licktheplateclean\/?p=863\" action=\"like\" colorscheme=\"light\" layout=\"standard\"  width=\"450px\" size=\"small\"><\/fb:like><\/div><\/div><p>So what does one do with 1\/2 a sujk sausage left over from a shakshuka inspired dinner?<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Wo, what\u00a0 in the world is suj whatever sausage and shakesugar whatever&#8221; I hear you thinking&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sujuk<\/b>, also &#8220;sucuk&#8221; and <b>soudjouk<\/b> is a dry, spicy sausage\u00a0 eaten from the Balkans to the Middle East and Central Asia.<\/p>\n<p><b>Shakshouka<\/b>\u00a0 (also <b>shakshuka<\/b>) is a dish of egg poached in a sauce of\u00a0 tomatoes, chilli peppers, and onions, often spiced with cumin. It is believed to have a Tunisian origin. We added sujuk to ours.<\/p>\n<p>So, we had some sujuk in the fridge which we used as the base for our RLC,<br \/>\nPretty easy choice- sujuk pizza.<\/p>\n<p>Two long Turkish breads, sujuk and some crumbled feta, a few olives left over from a Nicoise salad &#8230;<br \/>\nHmmm. Needs something a bit paste like&#8230;<br \/>\nBoy on a mission found a delicious antipasto aioli and we used this like a pizza tomato sauce on the bread then topped it with sliced sujuk, olives, feta, and drizzled with a bit of olive oil and Dijon mustard dressing.
