Text | HOWARD The rector (the Rev. E. D. Eglinton) pre- sided at the Easter meeting of St. Mat- thew's Church of England, at which officers elected or appointed were: Rector's warden, Mr. J. Buffey; people's warden, Mr. S. Buffey; organist and Sunday school superin- tendent, Miss V. M. Buffey: secretary, Mr. A. E. Van Cooten; auditor, Mr. D. C. McKenna. ... TORQUAY The death is announced of Mr. William John McFarlane, aged 79. He was born in Belfast, Ireland, and came to Queensland in the sailing ship Montmorency, landing at Maryborough in 1863. He was a saw sharpener, and worked at the old Dundanha sawmill, and later with Sims, Ltd., and Wilson and Hart's mills. For a short period he lived in Woondum. His wife pre-deceased him 11 years ago. He is survived by three sons and two daughters. |
